The Enterprise Challenge: One Patient, Different Scanners
SimonMed’s national MRI network includes multiple manufacturers, a range of field strengths, newer and legacy scanners, and systems with different levels of built-in AI. That diversity creates a fundamental challenge for a large imaging enterprise.
MRI image appearance, signal, and noise can vary with the scanner, the field strength, and the acquisition environment. A patient may have one exam at one SimonMed location and return years later to another center using a different MRI system. For longitudinal imaging, those differences matter.

For a network of 180 centers, asking every patient to return to the same location and the same scanner for every follow-up is not a scalable solution. SimonMed needed to address the problem across the fleet itself. The challenge was not improving one MRI scanner. It was creating greater consistency across an entire MRI enterprise.

From Decision to Enterprise-Wide Deployment in 10 Days
Once SimonMed selected SwiftMR, it did not want the technology confined to a prolonged pilot. The organization moved more than 180 MRI scanners across its network to SwiftMR in just 10 days.
No new scanner hardware was required. SimonMed deployed SwiftMR across the MRI infrastructure it already owned rather than approaching the transformation scanner by scanner.

Standardization Is the Foundation for Longitudinal Care
For SimonMed, enterprise MRI standardization supports a much larger objective. The organization is building toward imaging that can follow a patient across time, not simply produce a series of disconnected examinations.
But longitudinal imaging only becomes truly useful when physicians can have greater confidence that a measured change reflects the patient, rather than differences introduced by the scanner or acquisition environment. That is why standardization matters.
A patient may be scanned in Florida today and California years later. The MRI system may be older or newer, at a different field strength, or from another manufacturer. The goal is not to make every scanner identical. It is to create a more consistent imaging foundation across the enterprise so serial imaging can become more meaningful over time.
